International Mistletoe R&D Cooperation Conference Completed
An "International Mistletoe R&D Cooperation Conference" in which the academicians from Republic of Korea presented their findings on the effects of mistletoe (Viscum album L.), a non-wood forest product, on human health and the importance in the cancer research (Diverse Biological Functions of Mistletoe) was organized in the General Directorate of Forestry Sogutozu Campus on February 5, 2018. The Ambassador of Republic of Korea in Turkey, who started his duty in the last January, made his first official visit to the General Directorate of Forestry for the International Conference hosted by the GDF. Ambassador GHI, in his opening speech, expressed his appreciation by saying that friendly relations of the people of Turkey and South Korea dated back and hoping that these good relations would be further increased by conducting scientific activities such as joint conferences, symposiums and projects. On behalf of the GDF, Dr. Ahmet IPEK, the Deputy General Director, thanked the Ambassador for his good wishes and gave information about R&D activities on forestry between two countries and stated that scientific activities would be gradually increased.

In the conference, total five papers were presented, one of which was on Turkish mistletoe presented by Prof. Dr. Jong-Bae KIM and Senior Researcher Dr. Choon Ho PARK from Mistlebiotech Co. Ltd. (Mistletoe Research Center), South Korean partner of the mistletoe research project conducted by the Central Anatolia Forestry Research Institute Directorate, and the other four by Prof. Dr. Sung-Tae YEE working on Immunology in Sunchon National University, Prof. Dr. Yung Choon YOO working on Human and Cell Biology in Konyang University, and Prof. Dr. Taek-Joon YOON working on Nutrition in Yuhan Academy. The conference was attended by distinguished academicians from Gazi University, Konya Food and Agriculture University, Iğdır University, Çankırı Karatekin University and Erzincan University, as well as researches and personnel from the GDF who were insterested in the subject.

The conference was successfully concluded by being answered the questions of the audience following the presentations of the participants.
